Loop PR will be watching with interest how the new myconservative website develops over the coming months - see PR Week’s analysis here. We remain a little unsure about the merits of being greeted by Eric Pickles’ thumbs up gesture on the front page though!
In fact during the early days of the Obama administration we were so impressed with what his team were doing we blogged about it here , The site proved to be a huge success and there’s little doubt that the Conservatives are throwing the kitchen sink at engaging people online. There’s a sense that Cameron et al are approaching everything they do with an empty mind (just as Labour did prior to taking over in 1997) - they are certainly taking the game to Labour with this new site. If it turns out to be as successful as Obama’s, Labour really need to up their game.
Let’s hope the site doesn’t prove to be a noose round their neck though. Controlling messages online can be hard … and we’ve seen what happens when tories are let loose on message boards over on the BBC’s Have your Say!
Well hello again!
